Ingrid Ahlert
Founder CEO: The Learning Initiative

Dr. Ingrid Ahlert approached me five years ago as she needed a website for the new Learning Initiative, a non-profit organisation. The aim is to support children (age 4 & 5) with barriers to learning in disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa.  With a focus on professionalism, following best practice and their ethical guidelines, they can provide quality services that serve the needs of their beneficiaries and contribute positively to the quality of education. They strive to equip all their young children with tools, techniques, enthusiasm and resilience to thrive in school.

With the programme called, Blocks4Growth, they offer fun and interactive group sessions throughout the year. What caught my attention is that an area that is neglected too often is to inform and educate parents too.  With B4G parent workshop and teacher coaching is also offered.

If you follow their Facebook and Instagram accounts, you will be amazed with all the activities they do and happy faces as a result thereof.

Ingrid’s big hopes came true with her enthusiasm and enormous vision. She gathered the perfect team to serve various communities in the Western Cape. Currently serving in the following areas: Mitchell’s Plain, Masiphumelele, West Lake, Vrygrond, Grassy Park, Fisantekraal, Klapmuts, Macassar, Cloetesville, Philippi and Khayelitsha.

The result of their hard work and endurance is that on 10 N0vember they received a Change maker in Education Award: Community Chest Impumelelo Social Innovations Awards (CCISIA)!

Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
